I know this sounds impossible, but want to feel EXTRA good about eating chocolate?
First things first, the taste and quality: Farmers' Chocolate is made with Cacao Arriba, a rare variety of cocoa bean that traces its genetic lineage as far back as 3,500 years! In the 18th and 19th centuries, Arriba was considered by many European chocolatiers to be the most coveted source of cacao in the world because of its floral aroma and complex flavor profile.
The "EXTRA" part? The story behind the producers: The certified-heirloom Cacao Arriba used in these chocolate bars is produced in Manabi, Ecuador, supporting the livelihood of rural farming communities with fair pay. In fact, our friends at Rrampt wrote a fantastic article about the local couple, Jenny Zambrano and Noel Dekking, who got into the chocolate and coffee business in 2016 after an earthquake hit Jenny’s Ecuadorian village of Mata de Platano.
Comes in: Milk (45% cacao), Semi-Dark (54%), Dark (80%), and White (35%).
